ClearEdge Power has announced that Samsung Everland Inc. has purchased a PureCell® Model 400 fuel cell system which will be installed at the Busan International Finance Center’s Landmark Tower in Busan, Korea. The fuel cell will be installed in the basement of the tower and will provide 400 kW of clean, efficient power to the building.
This installation marks the fourth project on which ClearEdge Power has partnered with Samsung Everland and the first PureCell system installation in the city of Busan. Samsung Everland previously deployed 12 PureCell Model 400 systems for a 4.8MW site at GS Power, seven Model 400 systems for a 3.08MW site at KOSEP and two Model 400 systems for the Lotte World Premium Towers.
“We are extremely proud to partner with Samsung Everland on this exciting project with the Busan International Finance Center,” said David B. Wright, ClearEdge Power President & CEO. “Together, we continue to develop projects that meet Korea’s progressive environmental standards and we’re pleased to be an important part of the country’s growing green energy infrastructure.”
The Model 400 system to be installed in the Busan International Finance Center will help to meet South Korea’s clean energy goals as part of the country’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS), which gives fuel cells the highest multiplier on renewable energy credits earned with each operating hour.
“Samsung Everland continues to work closely with ClearEdge Power to market and sell PureCell fuel cell power plants in South Korea. We are experiencing growing demand for fuel cell power plants from electric utilities under the South Korean RPS program and forecasting increasing demand from the commercial building market as well,” said Samsung Everland Plant Business Vice President.
