Toyota y BMW, se unen para el desarrollo de vehiculos de hidrogeno

Toyata y BMW, han creado una plataforma para el desarrollo de vehiculos de de pila de combuistible de hidrogeno en el año 2020.

No solo se encargaran del desarrollo del stack, sino que tambien se encargaran de desarrollar los depositos, el motor electrico y las baterias.

Esta union entre estos dos grandes fabricantes de vehiculos, reafirma, que la realiadad de los vehiculos electricos de pila de combustible de hidrogeno, esta cada vez mas cerca.

 

Toyota and BMW to Jointly Develop New Fuel Cell Vehicle Platform for 2020

Japan’s Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and Germany’s BMW Group are to share their fuel cell technologies and jointly develop a fundamental fuel cell vehicle platform by 2020; this will include not only a fuel cell stack and system, but also a hydrogen tank, electric motor and supporting battery system. Germany is an important early market for fuel cell electric vehicles, and Toyota can lend to BMW years of experience and expertise in the development of fuel cell and battery powered drivetrains.
This comes as one of four binding agreements that follow a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in December 2011 and expanded last June, which also includes joint development of a mid-sized sports vehicle, lightweight technologies, and a lithium-air battery with an energy density greatly exceeding those of current lithium-ion batteries.
Norbert Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG said: "TMC and the BMW Group share the same strategic vision of future sustainable mobility. In light of the technological changes ahead, the entire automotive industry faces tremendous challenges, which we also regard as an opportunity.  This collaboration is an important building block in keeping both companies on a successful course in the future."
